Astralis didn't have much trouble against Method in Vilnius as the Danes closed it out 2-0 (16-2 on de_mirage, 16-4 on de_overpass).
Group B's second opening match at Game Show Global eSports Cup 2016 was between Method and Astralis. Method were without their two most important players Ivan "spaze" Obrezhan and Dmitriy "facecrack" Alekseyev as they experienced visa issues and they used two Estonian stand-ins. The clash kicked off on de_mirage with the Danes electing to start on the CT-side.
Method were able to plant the bomb in the pistol round but a strong retake by Astralis earned them the round. Although the Russians were able to buy rifles and planted the bomb in the third round, Finn "karrigan" Andersen's sneaky defuse stopped their rivals in their tracks (3-0). Consecutive bomb plants kept Method's economy in a good condition but Astralis were unfazed as they continued to win rounds, bringing the score to 7-0.
dupreeh dominated on both maps
The Russians came close when Nicolai "device" Reedtz and Savelii "jmqa" Bragin were on a 1v1 clutch situation but device killed his opponent with only two health points left (10-0). Hendrik "cheti" Vallimägi's 1v1 victory against karrigan got his team their first round which would be their only one in the half.
A pistol round victory didn't help Method, as Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen's three Deagle kills got his team thirteen match points. Astralis were not in need of these match points though, closing it out immediately with a 16-2 score in the end.
The second map (de_overpass) started with Method’s CT-side pistol round win but losing the next round put them in a tough situation. Kristjan "fejtZ" Allsaar's 1v3 and his team's next round victory brought the score to 3-3 and they exceeded the amount of rounds they got on the whole of de_mirage. Despite the good start, Astralis did not slow it down and finished the half 11-4 ahead. The final score was 16-4 in favor of Astralis.
